According to the policies approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the contact info a domain name is registered with must be correct and accurate all the time. At the same time, this info is freely visible on WHOIS web sites and while this may be OK for firms, it may not be very acceptable for individuals, since anybody can see their names and their personal street and email addresses, all the more so in an age when identity fraud isn’t that rare. That’s the reason why domain registrars have come up with a service that conceals the details of their clients without editing them. The service is called Whois Privacy Protection. In case it’s activated, people will see the details of the registrar, not the domain owner’s, if they perform a WHOIS search. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic domain extensions, but it is still not possible to conceal your personal info with some country-code extensions.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

If you get a cloud website hosting plan from us, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domains provided that their extensions support this option. You can register or transfer a domain and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the account activation procedure or you can activate the service for any of your domain names at any moment later through the Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The process is extremely easy – after you log in, you will need to visit the Registered Domains section where you will find a list of all the domain names that you’ve registered with us. For each of them you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, which will let you know if the service is activated or not. By clicking it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain, or you can deactivate the service if it is currently enabled.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you’d like to hide the contact information for your domain name and you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you’ll be able to activate our Whois Privacy Protection service either upon signup or at any moment later through your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is optional and can be activated with a few clicks from the Control Panel’s Registered Domains section where all the domain names that you have registered through us will be listed in alphabetical order. You can enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of the top-level domain name extensions that support the service by simply clicking on the “Whois Privacy Protection” button next to each domain. In the same fashion, you can also renew the Whois Privacy Protection service or remove it – in case you would like to transfer a domain to some other company and you need the real email address associated with the domain to be visible.
