An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a particular Internet site. Any file which was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have one webpage with three embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for every of the 6 files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s Operating System, web browser and IP address. In some cases you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The information an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a personal computer and used to write reports on the overall performance of an Internet site, independent of the web stats that your server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting

Enabling the generation of access logs shall be very easy if you get a cloud website hosting from our company. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, which comes with all the accounts, has a section dedicated to different logs which is where you will find the access logs too. When you navigate there, you shall see a list of all the domain names hosted within the account and the subdomains created for them. Our custom made cloud hosting platform shall start generating an access log for any of them as early as you click on the On button, which you'll see on the right. If you don't need logs, disabling the option is just as simple and can be done by clicking on the Off button within the exact same section. All of the logs are downloadable, so you can comfortably save and manage them on your PC or notebook.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it shall not take more than several clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The function can be enabled from the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this may be done independently for every single domain name or subdomain you have in your account. When you log in and navigate to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to all of them. A single click will activate the log generation and a second one shall deactivate it, so you can control this function with great convenience. A Download link within the same section will permit you to save the created content as a text file, that you may then use on your computer system. Whether or not the logs are disabled, you'll still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
